Active Access IAM - Manage Organization - Reset or Specify a User Password
Introduction
This article applies to users with the Security Administrator role.
This article will describe the procedure for resetting or specifying a user's password.
Details
An administrator can reset or specify a new password for the user. Resetting the password will provide the user with a random temporary password. Specifying the password will allow the administrator to set a new temporary password of his/her/their choosing.
Resetting a Password
- Navigate to Administration Tools
- Search for the user, then click on the user's name to view the profile
- Click on the Security Settings tab
- Click on the Reset User Password menu option
- Validate the user's identity by asking for the answer to the user's security question
- Once you are satisfied that the user is indeed the owner of the account, click the Reset Password button.
- The first 4 characters of the new password will display on the screen; communicate the 4 characters to the user. The second 4 characters of the new password will be emailed to the email address in the user's profile.
- The user should put the two halves of the password together to form the new temporary password to log in. Upon login, the user will be prompted to select a new password.
Specify a Password
- Navigate to Administration Tools
- Search for the user, then click on the user's name to view the profile
- Click on the Security Settings tab
- Click on the Specify User Password menu option
- Validate the user's identity by asking for the answer to the user's security question
- Once you are satisfied that the user is indeed the owner of the account, enter a new password in the New Password and Re-type New Password fields. Please note the password being assigned must contain at least 8 characters, at least 1 number, and 1 letter, and cannot be the same as the user's last 7 passwords
- Click the Submit button
- Communicate the new password to the user. The user will be prompted to reset the password upon the first login.
